OpenSock

Use OpenSock to develop many cool networked applications that leverage the Internet as it was meant to be. No browsers needed! Pure Toolbook Applications. See some of the samples listed below.

OpenSock, a utility written by G.Wim van der Vegt allows Toolbook books to connect with winsock.dll directly to provide connectivity via HTTP, FTP, Telnet etc. OpenSock allows you to fully incorporate these functions into any Toolbook application. This utility comes in the form of a Widget (a.k.a. Extended Object). Download versions available are:

OpenSock Applications

Chat (Toolbook version 6.1a and 6.5)
A very simple implementation of the Opensock Utility. Runs at the standard telnet port or any other custom port defined by you. All instructions are in the applications under Help. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Note: This utility is co-located with sample network applications for San Francisco State University students.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol [SMTP] Sample Application
An implementation of the Opensock Utility. Runs at the standard SMTP port. This application can be used to send standard E-mail to any e-mail address from within Toolbook. You will require your ISP's SMTP server address.
